the build up of cortisol and the thoughts and feelings that surround the events in a child’s day can cause the ‘after school’ meltdown and heightened moments of dysregulation into the evening

these typical after school displays of a child are such an opportunity to build life skills- self awareness, emotional regulation and healthy self expression

at the bridge, we prompt reflection and processing of the day, provide age appropriate regulation practices and activate the relaxation nervous system to successfully close the day, encourage an easeful bedtime and sound sleep

through play, mindfulness practices, movement and stillness, we help foster lifelong skills that promote a deeper sense of self and greater relationships and a greater connection to the world

  • recognize

as the group come together each afternoon at the bridge, a deep observation of the behavior of each child allows for understanding and direction. this is set up as child lead, free play style.

recognition, meeting everyone where they’re at, and adapting teaching appropriately is crucial to maximize learning in the afternoon.

  • reflect

in the reflection part of the afternoon, there will be child appropriate prompts to encourage a reflection and processing of the day's events, stimulation, highs and lows.

this allows for making sense of things, bridging awareness of stimuli and state, and helps to ground and settle a child.

  • regulate

theme based activities are designed to promote self regulation. through mindful movement, stillness, arts and crafts and play, we aim to build a toolbox of awareness and expression.

throughout the program there will also be special guests bringing their unique immersive sensory practices intended to deepen our awareness and experience.

  • rest

in the conclusion of the session we activate the rest and digest nervous system to set ourselves up for a smooth bedtime and sound sleep
